Dito regresa a su ciudad natal después de enterarse de que su padre está gravemente enfermo. A manera de autobiografía, el director y guionista Dito Montiel, narra cómo es que siendo muy joven abandona el barrio neoyorquino de Queens para vivir en California, cuando las cosas se ponen imposibles para la pandilla. En paralelo, la narración nos muestra a un Dito adulto,(Robert Downey Jr.), del que no sabremos nada, y a un joven Dito (Shia LaBeouf), cuyas aventuras se van revelando a lo largo de la cinta.

Dito returns to his native city after knowing that his father is seriously ill. Like an autobiography, the director and scriptwriter Dito Montiel, narrates how he left New York to live in California, when everything becomes impossible to him and his friends. At the same time, the narration shows us an adult Dito, (Robert Downey Jr.) and a young Dito too (Shia LaBeouf), whose adventures are revealed throughout the film.
